I wrote (in Chinese) and translated (into English with the kind help of Matt Scott in West Lafayette) the short play, 未成形 (Taking Shape), which interweaves the themes of dream and memory with the prevalent issue of Shengnü (leftover lady) in China.
The play, directed by me with the wonderful amateur actors and actresses recruited from Purdue's Chinese, French, and Spanish teaching groups and undergrad schools, was staged with the support of the Confucius Institute and Chinese program at Purdue, in Stanley Coulter Hall of the School of Languages and Cultures, on April 9, 2016.
We had a fun evening cheered up by an enthusiastic, sweet audience and considered all the time and hard work well rewarded!
