1. We have finished one Lesson! Write in English (and some Chinese words perhaps) about what you've learned so far and how you feel about learning.
2. Read the "Cultural Literacy" section on pages 42-43 on Family Names and Watch this video. Note that when the guy says in Taiwan many people have double-syllabic last names, the fact is some Taiwanese have TWO last names in their last name. E.g. My last name is Huang, and when I marry this Taiwanese guy whose last name is Chen, I can take two last names and my name becomes "Chen Huang XX."

3. Search for the idiom "张三李四" using "张三李四 English." Using the questions on page 43 as prompts, talk (write) about this idiom and the common family names in English.
4. Write about your Chinese name: what's your surname? What does it mean? Is it a common surname? What's your given name? Is it monosyllabic? What does it mean? (optional: Why did your instructor give you this name?) Do you like your name? According to what you just read on page 43, if you were Chinese, would your friends call you by your given name? By now you really should be able to write your name in Chinese! Write and take a picture of your writing and insert it into your blog.
