Your attendance & participation grade (10% of the total) will reflect your attendance. As explained in the syllabus, you were allowed 1 unexcused (without dean's excuse, written proof of mandatory academic or athletic events, etc.), and beyond that, every one absence (from class or tutorial with Han Laoshi) will result in 1% deduction from your 100% total grade.
I'm offering two more extra credit opportunities: 1 for up to 1%, and 2% maximum. You may choose to do one of the two or both tasks below and reply with your post's weblink to earn up to 2% extra credits.
1. Wherever you'll be during Thanksgiving, note what people do and eat. Learn some Chinese words about these activities or food and write a blog in Chinese with pictures. It should read like a journal (10 sentences minimum) describing local customs, lifestyles, or what it's like to be with family and friends during a holiday.
2. Film yourself learning Chinese words and expressions related to Thanksgiving from a native speaker, or yourself teaching your family or friends Chinese phrases about food, cooking, hobbies, gift-giving, etc. Add a brief description of the video (1 minute minimum).
